St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7 Wood St., Pittston, celebrated its 160th anniversary on Nov. 12. A service was held followed by a dinner prepared by Jake Hizney. The invocation was given by the Rev. John Zimmerman and closing remarks by the Rev. Chris Wicher, pastor. Sharleen Palaima served as chairwoman of the event and was assisted by members of the planning committee and church council, including Darwin Perschau, Alan Drummond, Mary Ann Denman, Marcia Colleran, Rebecca Perschau, Paul and Barbara Laure, Doris Mersincavage, Joe Mersincavage and Nichole Pabon.
