Merry Christmas and happy New Year to all Dupont Borough residents from the staff and officials of Dupont Borough.

Council meetings

Council’s reorganization meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2. All appointments will be made at this time. The regular meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16. 

Future meetings will be held at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month, unless otherwise advertised.

Refuse bills

The 2018 refuse bills have been mailed in envelopes this year. Due date is Jan. 31. Bills paid Feb. 1-28 will have a 10 percent late fee added and from March 1-31 there will be another 10 percent late fee. Anyone not paying by April 1 will have their account forwarded to the magistrate for collection.   

Office hours during January are extended on Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Appointments can be made by calling the office if these times conflict with your schedule.

Centennial thanks

A great big thank you to everyone who participated throughout the year in all the centennial events and especially to all the sponsors, donors and volunteers. It was a great year. The events are successful because of your continued support.

Snow ordinance

Dupont residents are reminded the snow ordinance will be enforced this year. After a snowfall, no parking will be allowed on the even side of the street.  On the second day after a snowfall, no parking will be allowed on the odd side of the street. 

Snow cannot be thrown onto streets or within intersections. Sidewalks must be cleaned within 48 hours after snowfall.

Also, there is a weight limit on refuse bags and ash containers.

Tree collection

Christmas trees will be picked up Fridays. 

Christmas services

The Christmas Mass schedules at Holy Mother of Sorrows and Sacred Heart of Jesus churches are as follows:

Holy Mother of Sorrows services: Dec. 24, Christmas Eve, Mass at 4 and 10 p.m. Dec. 25, Christmas Day, Mass at 10 a.m.

Sacred Heart of Jesus services: Dec. 24, Christmas Eve, Mass at 4 p.m. Dec. 25, Christmas Day, midnight Mass, 12 a.m., Koledy Polskie or Polish language carols will be sung in church prior to midnight Mass starting at 11:30 p.m. Mass services also are at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.

VFW New Year’s Eve party

New Year’s Eve party sponsored by the Dupont Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4909 will be held at the post home Sunday, Dec. 31, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Dinner buffet will be served from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. with open bar from 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Music by Millennium will from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

Late night snack platters, donuts, coffee, hats, noise makers and leis will be provided.

Tickets are $40 per person. Reservations may be made by seeing Bob Lopata at the VFW or calling Bob at 570-654-9104.

Baby boy

Congratulations to Alexandria and Nicholas Kravitz on the birth of their second son, Ethan Fox Kravitz, born Dec. 16.

Salon anniversary

Congratulations to Just You Salon on Main Street, which recently celebrated its fifth year of business at the Main Street location.

Wally Kulick and Kevin Darnell, the sophisticated and stylish salon staff, sends a thank you to the community.
