Our local Lions Clubs have a charming event planned for the community to enjoy.
Avoca and Duryea Lions Clubs will sponsor a fall festival craft and vendor fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Germania Hose Company, 430 Foote Ave., Duryea.
There will be more than 35 crafters and vendors, a large selection of raffles and basket items and food. Admission and parking are free. All proceeds will benefit Lions Club charitable causes.
Queen of the Apostles news
Queen of the Apostles Parish will host a takeout pasta dinner, sauce, meatball and homemade cannoli sale from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, in the parish hall, 742 Spring St.
The dinner, which is $10 for adults and $6 for children ages 3 to 12, includes salad, bread, pasta, meatballs and dessert.
The quarts of sauce are $5 each and the quarts of sauce with meatballs are $7 each. The homemade cannoli is $3 each.
The parish will have Bible study in the rectory from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12 and 26.
The parish women’s guild will have its annual harvest tea at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, in the parish hall. The event is open to all women of the parish. The cost is $10 per person.

In other parish news, every Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Queen of the Apostles Parish has Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at the church, 715 Hawthorne St. At the present time, the parish is in need of a Eucharistic Adorer for the 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. hours. Anyone who can commit to one of these hours should call Ann Jake at 570-457-3521 or the parish office.
The parish announces the following meetings: 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 3, parish hall committee, parish hall; 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 5, social concerns/respect life committee, rectory; 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 9, pastoral council, rectory; 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 10, women’s guild committee, rectory, and 6:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 16, worship committee, rectory.
Little League meeting
Avoca/Dupont Little League will have its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, at the Little League Clubhouse, 700 Mill St. The agenda includes the conclusion of the fall ball season and projects for the upcoming spring season.
Anyone wishing to coach or volunteer, as well as anyone generally interested in the league, is welcome to attend.
Open from noon to 6 p.m. every Wednesday until mid-November on the grounds of 822 McAlpine St., the Avoca Farmers Market is a great place to purchase fresh food, drinks and crafts all offered by local vendors.

Boy Scout membership
Boy Scout Troop 316 is accepting new members. The troop meets at 7 p.m. Thursdays at Queen of the Apostles Parish hall, 742 Spring St. The troop participates in various types of fun activities.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in the basement of the Queen of the Apostles Parish rectory, 715 Hawthorne St. Please use the sunroom entrance.
